Project Overview

With the merger of three local councils, I was brought on board as UX Designer as part of the digital transformation team to assist with the development and launch of their new website.

Key Contributions

Visual Design Refinement:

Collaborated with the Council’s digital agency to refine the visual design of the website homepage, ensuring it better reflected the brand identity of the newly amalgamated councils.

Local Stories Feature:

Created a new section on the homepage to highlight noteworthy local stories, enhancing community engagement and showcasing relevant content.

Wireframing and Collaboration:

Developed a wireframe for the homepage, providing a structured layout for the content strategist to follow and ensuring a clear and effective design direction.

Accessibility and Compliance:

Worked closely with the development agency to ensure the website met WCAG AA compliance, addressing accessibility needs and improving inclusivity for all users.

Art Direction and UI/UX Improvements:

Provided art direction and made improvements to the UI and UX to enhance overall site usability and visual appeal.

Outcome

The new website successfully incorporated elements of the brand identity, featured engaging local content, and met accessibility standards, delivering a user-friendly experience for the community.
